When we look at the world, we see a middle class in the midst of continuing growth. This is a timely opportunity for Chemours to meet these increasing demands through persistent innovation of our products. Because as this middle-class grows in buying power, so does its demand for air conditioners, refrigerators, paints, and consumer electronics—all important parts of the middle-class lifestyle which our performance chemicals help power.

Developed Markets Want Value-Added Products

As technology advances, consumers demand more from their products—benefits such as comfort, durability, high performance, and convenience become a way to differentiate and gain market share.

Our products are consistently providing new, innovative, high-market impact applications to meet consumer or market demands and provide a competitive edge. For example, our Viton™ fluoroelastomers, already the benchmark for automotive use, are finding new applications in the wearables market due to their high stain-resistance, durability, and feel.

Globally, 66% of consumers claim that they are willing to pay more for environmentally responsible products—up from 55% in 2015 and 50% in 2013, respectively.²

The New Standard: Sustainability and Responsibility

We’re focusing on delivering responsible, sustainable products—like our low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants and blowing agents—that our customers need in order to meet regulatory requirements. Not only because it’s good for our business, but also because it’s the right thing to do for the future of our planet. We help our customers set themselves apart from competitors by providing innovations in processes and products that exceed expectations of sustainable manufacturing.

Our low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant, Opteon™, has met the standards of the European marketplace to use HFO refrigerants by 2017, helping reduce CO₂ emissions globally.
Our non-fluorinated fabric protector, Teflon EcoElite™—used in apparel and water-resistant coatings—is now made with 60% renewably sourced content.
Using Ti-Pure™ TS-6300 in place of a universal titanium dioxide can shrink the carbon footprint of paints used in buildings by 20% or more.

For example, we’re continually upgrading our titanium dioxide products despite already being the largest manufacturer in the market.

Global Operations to Scale

Markets are more globally minded now than ever, and so are we. In evaluating this shift, we recognize our sizable advantage in providing economies of scale. Whether it’s our thermal and specialized solutions, advanced performance materials or our TiO₂ business, we have facilities worldwide that tailor products so they meet the needs of emerging markets while keeping costs under control.

We have a TiO₂ facility in Altamira, Mexico, that is the lowest cost provider of its kind in the world, allowing us to better serve our customers.
